Bitcoin ETFs Bounce Back With $119M Inflows Despite Price Slump as Ether Funds Extend Outflow Streak

U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) successfully returned to net inflows on Tuesday, defying a broader market price correction that saw the leading cryptocurrency slip below key psychological thresholds. This recovery for Bitcoin investment products stood in stark contrast to the performance of Ether ETFs, which deepened their ongoing slump and extended a concerning outflow streak to six consecutive trading sessions.

According to market intelligence data from SoSoValue, U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded a healthy $119 million in net inflows on Tuesday. This positive financial turn effectively reversed the previous day’s capital flight, which had seen $90 million leave the asset class as market sentiment wavered.

The return of institutional and retail capital into Bitcoin funds occurred even as the underlying asset faced sharp downward price pressure across global exchanges. Bitcoin experienced a notable intraday tumble, sliding from above the $86,600 mark early Tuesday to break beneath the $84,000 threshold. At the time of publication, Bitcoin was changing hands at approximately $83,971, reflecting a 2.1% decline over the preceding 24 hours, according to tracking data from CoinGecko.

This juxtaposition of rising ETF inflows alongside falling spot prices highlights a complex market dynamic where institutional vehicles are seeing steady accumulation even as short-term traders lock in profits or react to macro-driven volatility. Industry analysts point out that Bitcoin’s recent recovery path has encountered significant hurdles related to profit-taking.

Commenting on the market structure, CryptoQuant contributor MorenoDV noted that Bitcoin’s upward trajectory has been met with heightened selling pressure from investors realizing gains. This behavior is largely attributed to the fact that the asset has been trading at a substantial premium relative to the estimated cost basis of active traders, which sits around $68,900. According to the analyst, the long-term sustainability of Bitcoin’s broader recovery will heavily depend on whether incoming market demand remains robust enough to completely absorb this wave of profit-taking.

While Bitcoin investment products managed to find a solid footing on Tuesday, the broader digital asset ETF landscape presented a mixed picture, with altcoin-based funds experiencing divergent fortunes.

Most notably, U.S. spot Ether ETFs continued a steep downward spiral, recording a substantial $202 million in net outflows on Tuesday. This marked a sharp acceleration in capital withdrawals compared to the previous day, which saw roughly $51 million leave the products. With Tuesday’s heavy losses factored in, the total cumulative outflows for Ether ETFs over their current six-day losing streak have escalated to approximately $408 million, signaling a cooling of institutional appetite for the second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization.

Other emerging crypto exchange-traded products also posted mixed transaction flows during the Tuesday trading session. XRP-linked ETFs managed to attract $3.1 million in net inflows, demonstrating modest relative strength. Conversely, Solana (SOL) ETFs recorded $3.7 million in net outflows, reflecting a temporary dampening of sentiment for that ecosystem. Meanwhile, Zcash (ZEC) ETFs reported entirely flat market activity, posting zero net flows after having suffered consecutive days of capital outflows during the prior two trading sessions.

As the cryptocurrency market continues to navigate this period of macroeconomic uncertainty, price volatility, and shifting institutional capital allocations, market participants remain closely focused on order book depth, spot volume trends, and ETF flow data as primary indicators of near-term market direction.
