Tech Bytes: IBM and SAP Partner on Cloud ERP, Plus Major Enterprise IT Updates From Accenture, Google, and More

As enterprises continually seek ways to compress multiyear digital transformation roadmaps and position themselves for the next wave of artificial intelligence adoption, major technology providers are stepping up with integrated portfolios, targeted business units, and specialized engineering models. This week’s roundup of enterprise IT developments highlights a strong industry-wide push toward operational modernization, simplified cloud migrations, and advanced agentic AI readiness.

IBM and SAP Join Forces to Accelerate Cloud ERP for Midsize Organizations

To help midsize organizations accelerate their cloud enterprise resource planning overhauls, IBM and SAP joined forces this week to launch IBM Ready for SAP Solutions. The new offering combines Cognitus’ consulting SAP Cloud ERP methodology with AI-enabled delivery through IBM Consulting Advantage.

The collaboration follows IBM’s acquisition of Cognitus, a global SAP consulting partner, in 2025, a strategic move designed to aid enterprises in accelerating their complex SAP transformation efforts. For many organizations, streamlining these foundational systems is no longer optional. According to a May survey of 1,000 senior executives conducted by the IBM Institute for Business Value, accelerating ERP modernization is critical to enhancing operational efficiency for 68% of enterprises.

The urgency to modernize core operational systems is echoed across major global enterprises. Highlighting the scale of these multiyear efforts, Levi Strauss & Co. recently retired more than 90 legacy systems and enabled over 2,600 employees to work from a single platform amid a comprehensive modernization initiative that included migrating to the cloud-based ERP system SAP S/4 Fashion. Such massive infrastructure shifts illustrate how large enterprises are increasingly prioritizing deep operational overhauls to secure long-term business agility and competitive advantages.

Building upon this broader industry trend toward streamlined operations and infrastructure enhancement, several other major enterprise IT vendors released notable product updates and strategic partnerships this week.

Accenture and Dell Form Modernization Group

Expanding a partnership spanning more than two decades, Accenture and Dell Technologies announced the formation of the Accenture Dell Business Group, a joint initiative aimed at helping enterprises scale artificial intelligence and modernize their underlying infrastructure.

The newly formed group seeks to give companies increased control over sensitive data, more predictable AI economics, and the robust performance capacity necessary for running complex agentic workloads. By combining Accenture’s deep consulting and transformation expertise with Dell’s enterprise hardware and infrastructure solutions, the collaboration intends to remove friction for organizations attempting to transition experimental AI models into scalable, production-grade environments.

Google Unifies Modernization Tools Into Single Portfolio

In an effort to help enterprises eliminate protracted transformation timelines, Google Cloud launched Google Cloud Modernize. Company leadership described the initiative in a press release as an “end-to-end transformation portfolio to help enterprises collapse multiyear roadmaps with the power of AI.”

Google Cloud Modernize effectively unites the company’s extensive suite of migration and modernization tools under a single umbrella, incorporating solutions such as Google Cloud Mainframe Modernization and Google Cloud VMware Engine, among others. By consolidating these disparate migration pathways, Google aims to simplify how businesses transition legacy architectures to the cloud. In tandem with this portfolio launch, Google also unveiled its new Gemini agent, representing a broader push to harmonize access to the platform in a centralized hub for enterprise users.

Cognizant Pushes to Expedite AI Deployment

Cognizant, a prominent AI builder and technology services provider, is also moving to compress AI implementation timelines for enterprises. The company announced the launch of a new business unit, Cognizant Activate, which will operate directly within enterprise environments utilizing vertically integrated teams.

The newly formed business unit is designed to deliver pre-built configurations for data and AI, enterprise applications, cloud modernization, cybersecurity, and managed services. Initially, Cognizant Activate will focus its specialized deployment efforts on four primary industries: financial services, retail and consumer packaged goods, healthcare, and manufacturing, where speed-to-value for digital initiatives is increasingly paramount.

Atlassian Joins FDE Blitz

Joining the growing cohort of technology companies tapping into the specialized expertise of forward-deployed engineers, productivity software provider Atlassian launched its Forward Deployed Engineering program. The initiative is designed to scale enterprise AI adoption by embedding senior applied AI engineers directly into complex enterprise environments.

Atlassian’s move places it alongside several other major technology giants that have embraced similar staffing and deployment models. Microsoft, Google, and AWS have all put forth forward-deployed engineering programs in recent months as enterprises increasingly contend with intricate technical environments while trying to navigate AI adoption and broader infrastructure modernization.

Cisco Adds Agentic Capabilities

Cisco has also updated its collaboration portfolio, announcing that its Webex platform will now include Claude integration. This update is designed to support seamless collaboration between human workers and autonomous AI agents while enabling advanced data analysis directly within Webex workspaces.

Furthermore, Cisco is uniting its networking and collaboration devices through Intelligent Workplace Experiences, a unified platform workspace managed centrally through Cisco Cloud Control. Alongside these infrastructure updates, the company introduced Dialog, a new agentic harness specifically focused on enhancing customer relationship management and automated engagement.
